Killer Sheep was formed in 2002 when Jim and Matt met at an open microphone session at The Hub in Colton . From the outset, the band's focus has been on original music, as both Matt (lead-rhythm guitar) and Jim (thumpin' bass) write poetry, lyrics, and music. Nichole brings a huge, powerful lead vocal presence, while Steve provides the signature percussion sound. These artists craft a sound all their own, a diverse and original sound that transcends age and genre. The band also does selective cover song music, but always with its own unique flavor. From soft, tuneful ballads, to pulsing protest songs, to thoughtful environmental songs, to punchy rock rhythms—Killer Sheep offers a truly unique experience.

Since its inception, the band has played at a number of local (Inland Empire, Southern California) venues and events, including The Hub in Colton, Java ‘N Juice in Riverside, The Crossroads in Yucaipa, Worthington's Tavern in Riverside, Muscle Mike's in Redlands, Slick's Billiards in Norco, Rockin' Java in Moreno Valley, The Jazzy Bean Coffee House in Lake Elsinore, Madlin's Coffee House in Temecula, Greenfest 2003 in Idyllwild, The Great Tractor race of 2004 in Temecula, The New Coffee Depot in Riverside, The Music Room in San Bernardino, The Beatnik Cafe in Joshua Tree, Greenfest 2006 in Palm Desert, Gram Fest 2005 and 2006 (a.k.a. The Cosmic American Music Festival), the 2007 Chuckwalla Festival, etc.

With many years of combined musical experience, the band's focus is on achieving success in the music industry, and to that end is sending out recordings to record companies, publishers, etc. Meanwhile, for shows, parties, gatherings, festivals, concerts, etc., Killer Sheep offers something fresh and original, a truly unique musical experience.

The Members

Matt Stands

Guitar
Vocals

Matt Stands (a.k.a. Matt Cofer) bought his first guitar in 1977 and has been writing songs and playing ever since. His first book of poetry was finished in 1981, and he has written many poems (several books full) since. Matt currently teaches writing at two Southern California community colleges. His dream is to make a living by writing and performing music, and he hopes that this dream will be accomplished as a songwriter/guitarist/vocalist for Killer Sheep.

Jim Fink

Bass Guitar
Vocals

Jim hails from the windy city of Chicago. He attended an inner-city grade school in South Side Chicago and later moved to Calumet City, where he started writing poetry at age 14. He produced and published an underground newspaper all through his high school days. He began playing the harmonica, creating visual artwork, and later (age 21) took up playing the bass and creating songs out of his poetry. Jim has an inborn need to be creative. He has written hundreds of poems and songs over the years, and many of them are coming to full fruition in the music of Killer Sheep. Jim dreams of getting paid (handsomely) for being the stellar song writer/bass player he is.

Nichole Yourgulez

Vocals and Light Percussion

With a deep love for musical expression, Nichole Yourgulez has been singing for the better part of 25 years--church, karaoke, bands, etc. Music runs in her family, as she has several family members who have become singers and recorded CDs. She currently works as a sign language interpreter for children ages 3 to 12. Nichole's warm, dynamic voice is a welcome addition to Killer Sheep sound.

Steven Duncan

Ricky Sinatra

Guitarist, Keyboardist, Vocalist
Songwriter, Producer

Guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, songwriter, producer--Ricky Sinatra does it all. With a flair for spontaneous creativity, Ricky is an inspirational, visionary musician who adds his unique flavor to any musical project he is involved in, and his contributions to Killer Sheep--as friend, advisor, musician, producer, etc.--are most welcome.

Bobbie Williams

Background Vocals
Light Percussion

Although Bobbie has moved to St. Louis and is no longer singing with the band, she remains in our hearts and our thoughts.

Bobbie Williams is a Singer, Actress, Announcer, Interpretive Reader and past Drama / Instructional Aide to Youth K-12th grade. She feels that MUSIC is the rhythmic, pulsating sound of simple to complex poetic expression which, through its rich variety, has the capacity to reach the hearts and souls of young and old. She says that from the tender age of four (4), she has attempted to share her LOVE of music with all who would listen. Having sung gospel, children‘s, school, patriotic, classical, jazz, and protest songs, she has always been mindful that the WORDS were meaningful to her at that stage in her life. Now, as then, as she joins her voice with Killer Sheep, the effort is the same - to speak from her heart to those who are listening, the words - through music - that tell the stories that the writers Jim Fink and Matt Stands have penned from their experiences. She further says, "They have welcomed me to be a part of their ensemble and I hope to give through background accompaniment a touch of [spice] to heighten the flavor of what is already a uniquely mixed blend."
